It is often easier to read about other people’s fears than to talk about your own. Reading books with children about specific kinds of fears can be helpful. It can also help to go the library and ask for books on fears. Or, you may want to go the bookstore or look for books on the Web. Here are some books about specific fears that you can read with children: Brown,
M. W. (1970). Goodnight Moon. New York, NY: Harper Collins. (Sleeping;
ages 2-5) Also,
series like the Berenstain Bears (visit the dentist, go to camp, new baby),
Franklin (has a sleep over) and Little Bill (and the big storm) all have
stories that deal with different fears. These books can be found at bookstores
or the local library. |
