ORDER:
Introducing the General Assembly |
In this project,
young people are asked to engage in exactly the same type
of behavior that informed voters engage in. They gather information
using a variety of resources, analyze alternatives, and reach
decisions. A series of worksheets guides the students through
an introduction to the General Assembly, the duties of the
assembly, the role of Indiana government in citizens’
lives, the state budget process, and the legislative process.
Throughout the project, the young people are encouraged to
personalize the experience by focusing on their local senators
and representatives and on legislation that impacts their
community.
