Treated Lumber in the Garden
Gardening in raised beds can be just the answer for would-be gardeners who would love to grow their own vegetables and flowers but lack the space or physical ability for a traditional garden. However, recent controversy regarding chemical wood preservation treatments has left many gardeners wondering about the safety of treated lumber.

Remove Faded Flowers? Yes and No! Faded Flower
Taking time to remove spent blossoms from your shrubs and garden flowers can pay off with more attractive, healthier plantings. For plants that have a season of bloom, such as garden flowers, the formation of fruit and seed can signal the plant to stop flowering, since its job of reproducing through seed has been accomplished. Removing the blooms before the seed forms will encourage the plant to produce more flowers.

Edible FlowersViolet
A floral garnish can add color and elegance to a dinner party that your guests will never forget. Many garden flowers can be used as edible garnish or to lend flavor and color to a cooked dish. Violet, miniature rose, lavender and honeysuckle blooms add a sweet flavor to salads or desserts. Daylilies and squash blossoms can be stir-fried, or batter-dipped and deep fried.
