IDEM has adopted new water pollution permitting controls, based on federal
requirements, that apply to nearly 500 concentrated animal feeding operations in
Indiana. These Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations, or CAFOs, are generally
defined as larger operations. The following websites contain information about
both Indiana's Confined Feeding Operation Permit program, as well as the CAFO
regulatory programs.
