EFNEP debuts new curriculum.  Beginning in April 2007, EFNEP will be teaching Eating Smart and Being Active, a colorful, activity based curriculum. This peer reviewed and piloted curriculum is based on dialogue learning as the most effective way to help participants make behavior change.

EFNEP enhances its outreach to the Latino population. Now four bilingual paraprofessionals in Lake and Marion counties as well as other FNAs continue reaching the Hispanic/Latino population.

More Healthy Babies and Mothers. The program for pregnant adolescents and limited resource mothers-to-be, Have a Healthy Baby, continues to show healthier babies as result of participation. Safe Food and You, food safety habits especially during pregnancy, to reduce risk of listeriosis is included. An extensive revision of the program debuted in 2005. Over 14,950 pregnant adolescents and adults have participated during the 16 year course of the program. 981 participants from 30 counties were involved in 2006.

Professor Popcorn big in the states. Exploring MyPyramid with Professor Popcorn continues to be utilized nationally. It was extensively rewritten in 2006 to coincide with MyPyramid. In Indiana, 11,810 youth in 363 groups representing 33 counties participated.  Improvement was reported related to food selection, and food safety practices.

Marching towards a better tomorrow. The collaboration with March of Dimes to facilitate Indiana Folic Acid Council continues.  Purdue serves as the host site for the Folic Acid Council web page.
