Purdue Extension and the School of Consumer & Family Sciences bring you a new curriculum that addresses issues of particular interest to Baby Boomers
Born between 1946 and 1964, Boomers have shaped the U.S. economy and society for years. As many Boomers now reach their 50s, they are preparing for the "second" stage of their lives. This four-part curriculum addresses important issues for consumers, especially Boomers. Each part is designed for a one- to two-hour presentation. The three-ring binder contains a step-by-step guide for the presenter, plus master copies for more than 50 overheads and more than 50
handouts.
Money in the mattress
This session offers Boomers ideas about how to cope with paying for their children's college education, caring for an elderly parent, and preparing for retirement. Boomers are the first generation whose members may have to cope with all three of these financial issues at the same time.
Stop, Let Me Off the Merry-Go-Round
This session helps Boomers define their life's mission, prioritize responsibilities, schedule priorities, explore time management skills and identify ways to simplifiy their lives. It emphasizes that work inside the home is just as important as that done outside the home.
The Fast and Flexible Answer to...What's for Dinner?
This session is devoted to
healthful eating in a fast-paced world. It covers topics such as making your kitchen work for you and preparing delicious meals in less than 30 minutes. Participants receive 35 recipes that are low in fat, sodium and sugar.
Friends and Lovers
This session introduces Boomers to several different
relationship-building activities. It teaches skills to maintain friendships, and it examines the characteristics of a fulfilling romantic relationship. Participants will learn how to develop a personal relationship-building plan.
Baby Boomers Come of Age, CFS-706, costs $75.
