Community Systemwide Response (CSR) - Marion County
Community Systemwide Response (CSR) is an initiative of Purdue Extension and the university's Department of Youth Development and Agricultural Education that helps people of all ages from all walks of life come together to identify, analyze, and address local issues related to children.
Mission of CSR
The mission of CSR is two-fold. On a local level, it is an educational process that links key community leaders, led by the Extension educator, with appropriate research-based educational information that helps them to develop and sustain a healthy community for youth and families.
The key to local CSR success is the involvement and ownership by the local people. They use the CSR model to identify, prioritize, and analyze local issues related to children and families, and then to develop and implement a plan of action addressing the issues. Because of this grassroots approach, CSR "looks and acts" differently at each site.
How Does a Community Get involved in CSR?
To become a CSR site, interested local residents need to contact the Marion County Extension Office and schedule an appointment with Dorothy Campbell, Extension Educator, (317) 275-9261 or dcampbe2@purdue.edu. A site team generally consists of five to eight key community leaders under the leadership of a Purdue Extension Educator. Purdue University Cooperative Extension sponsors the Community Systemwide Response.
