Subject: HORT ALERT: Emerald Ash Borer found in 2 new states

On July 14, 2008, two new infestations of emerald ash borer (EAB) were discovered and confirmed in ash trees in the town of Herndon and the Newington area, both in Fairfax County, Virginia. This is just outside (to the southwest) of Washington, DC.
On July 23, 2008, emerald ash borer was confirmed in Missouri (Wappapello Lake, in Wayne County, MO). This is southwest of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Which makes it southwest of the Evansville area.
This brings the total number of states infested with Emerald Ash Borer to nine, and includes: Indiana, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.

There is still room for the 2008 Master Gardener Training program. We will be meeting on Thursday nights (6-9) and Friday mornings (9 to noon), your choice. Cost of the program is $125 per person. Classes begin the first week of September.
