State Farm Bureau Award - Warrick County
Warrick County was honored with the Farm Bureau / Extension Service Award during the Indiana Farm Bureau Convention on December 10, 2005. The award recognizes partnerships between county Farm Bureaus and Extension offices. In Warrick County's case, this partnership involves 4-H, Ag Day, extension homemakers and other agricultural programs.
Warrick County Farm Bureau is being honored for its close relationship with the county Extension Service, including the $3,000 it pledged for expenses to move and renovate an old building at the county fairgrounds and the $1,640 it provided through the livestock auction. The county Farm Bureau and the Extension office also worked together on an Ag Day program targeted at all third-graders in the county.
Mary Ann Lienhart-Cross, President of the Indiana Extension Educator's Association, presented the award to the Warrick County Farm Bureau Womens Leader, Bonnie Watson and Warrick County Farm Bureau President, Yvonne Hunt, on behalf of the Warrick County Farm Bureau and Gary Michel, Extension Educator - CED, ANR, on behalf of the Warrick County Extension Staff. Other Extension Staff include Mary Lou Elbert, CFS; Carla Kidwell, 4-H Youth Development; Carolyn Fuchs, FNP Assistant; Marsha Tweedy, Office Manager; and Kathy Lemond, Secretary.
All of these individuals believe in the mission of the Purdue University Extension Service and Farm Bureau. Their belief is evident in their many years of working together and all they accomplish. They team-up on the Warrick Extension Annual meeting, many 4-H fair activities, Ag Day, and school enrichment programs.
