As part of the new initiatives by Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service, the Purdue Tourism & Hospitality Research Center (PTHRC) is undertaking a Web-based project entitled “Rural Tourism Resources & Information Program” (Rural TRIP). The program provides visitor profile information to assist rural Indiana communities in marketing their natural and cultural resources as a sustainable economic activity of rural development and to enhance the hands-on learning experience of Purdue tourism and hospitality students. The program will serve as an interactive venue for rural communities and Purdue tourism classes to team up on projects that are of interest to both. The Rural TRIP is implemented in conjunction with the CES Leadership and Community Development Program and in partnership with Convention & Visitors Bureaus in those Indiana counties for whom PTHRC has conducted or will conduct visitor profile studies. |
