Education Option Plan |

The purpose of the Educational Option Plan is to support parents in their own learning. Group classes and GED candidates will receive priority. This page will inform you of the application and reimbursement process. If you have any questions, please contact Claudia Guerin.
REQUIREMENTS 1. Must be a parent of an active Science Bound student. 2. Participated in at least three of the last six sessions of Science Bound Parent monthly sessions. Continuous attendance of the Science Bound Parents Initiative monthly sessions at a minimum of 50% must be maintained to be eligible for future educational support. 3. A maximum of one class per semester could be awarded per parent, after 2 semesters additional classes could be considered on a case by case basis . 4. Maximum payment for a 3 credit hour class will not exceed $600. 5. Must post and maintain a C to be eligible for continued educational support. 6. If a parent registers for a class and drops out, the parent would not be eligible for future educational support; unless that parent personally registers, completes and posts a grade of at least a C in a course following the incomplete class. 7. Extenuating circumstances for below C grades or incomplete courses will be considered on a case by case basis. 8. Science Bound Parents Initiative will reimburse up to $300 for books for parents who are already benefiting from a federal grant, scholarship, award, or an employer tuition award. All other recipients will receive up to $150 for books. 9. A parent must complete the Education Option Application in order to begin inquiries or education counseling with selected schools. Parents will receive a certificate of intent, if needed.
To Apply 1. Science Bound Parents Initiative Director submits the following items to the Office of Engagement Business Manager for processing: a. Form 21 b. Science Bound Parent Education Option Application c. Proof of course Registration (i.e. an invoice) d. Syllabus e. Receipts for books 2. Parent completes the Form 21, Parts A and C for payment of the fees and or reimbursement of book expenses that have been awarded. 3. A memo from the Science Bound Program Director to Office of Engagement Business Manager listing the recipient's name and amount of the award.
