Here’s What Happened Last Month:

 4-H News

 1.  Southern States Cooperative and AGWAY Sell Clovers for Local Youth

The “Clovers All Over” promotion begins National 4-H Week to raise funds to support local 4-H clubs and counties.

2.  Symposium Provides Ways to Fight Against Adolescent Smoking

The symposium will be held in Nashville, TN from November 6-7, 2009 and is open to all interested in this important topic.

3.  Youth Program Assistants Needed for Great Programs at National 4-H Council

Opportunity for youth to gain professional experience and develop leadership skills in Washington, DC.

4.  4-H Clubs Raise Funds with Treats for Dogs, Cats and Horses

See how your local 4-H youth club can raise funds for their local 4-H clubs and counties by selling pet treats. 

5.   4-H’ers Use Technology to Map Fairgrounds for Emergency Preparedness

              The activity helped prepare youth for higher education and employment in the fields of science and engineering.

6.   4-H’ers Participate in World Exchange Programs

This summer, through 4-H exchange programs, several 4-H’ers gained experience in navigating diverse cultures.

                                                                                                                                                                    

7.  4-H Zooms Into National 4-H Week

Thanks to DuPont, the 4-H clover appeared on Jeff Gordon’s No.24 Chevrolet during a NASCAR race. Post messages of support at 4‑H.org.

 8.   On-line Professional Development in Volunteerism Open for All Extension Staff

All Extension staff are invited to participate in Everyone Ready®, a dynamic online professional development series in volunteerism.

 9.   4-H Programs Receive 2009 4-H Families Count: Family Strengthening Award

Check out the 4-H programs that received awards from the Annie E. Casey Foundation for improving their communities.

10.   Teen Ambassadors Program Provides Youth Leadership Opportunities

This New York 4-H program provides 4-H youth with numerous opportunities to develop leadership skills.

 11.   Youth Entrepreneurs Have Opportunities to Share Ideas

Global Entrepreneurship Week, November 16 - 22, 2009, inspires young people worldwide to embrace innovation, imagination and creativity.

 12.  4-H’ers Participate in U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Projects

A California 4-H team collects data for geographic information system- based service projects.

 13.   New Butterfly WINGS Curriculum Now Available

This new curriculum gives opportunities for youth to explore the outdoors through guided inquiry and report their results on an interactive website.
