What is CFS?
CFS stands for Consumer and Family Sciences.
As a division of Purdue
University, we are
here to provide our community with non-biased, research based education.
This is done through informal educational programs which are catered to
meet the needs of the residents of our community. In CFS, the primary area
of focus involves individuals and families.

What kind of education is offered through Purdue Extension?
We traditionally teach programs which improve knowledge and teach skills
to the participants in hopes of developing a stronger individual, family
and or community.

County Extension
Office for information on all of these subjects?
Yes, In fact, our Extension Educator is Beth Switzer and her specialty
is Foods & Nutrition. She will personally teach classes on this
subject. Classes on the other subjects may be taught by Extension Educators
in neighboring counties.

Where and when are these classes taught?
Many places, actually, Hendricks County CFS Extension Educator, Beth Switzer RD,
CD, prefers teaching these classes in various settings. She has taught many
of them in professional work places as a lunch and learn program, at your
local organizational meeting, just about anyplace. Sometimes the classes
are taught in the Hendricks County Purdue Cooperative Extension Service at
the Hendricks Co. fairgrounds.

Is there a fee for the classes?
No, sometimes there will be a small fee to cover supply costs.

What are Extension Homemakers?
A group of individuals whose primary goal is to strengthen families
through continuing education, leadership development, and volunteer
community support.
