Cake Decorating

   

All workshops will be held in the Annex Building on the 4-H Fairgrounds unless otherwise indicated.  4-H’ers need to bring to each workshop:½ recipe of buttercream frosting (sample recipe below, wax paper, decorator tubes (Star#22, Writing#4, Duck Beak Leaf#349) other tubes are optional, one or two paste colors and tooth picks, cookie sheet to keep supplies on, paper towels, frosted cake (ready to decorate), old smock or apron, pair of scissors.

Buttercream Frosting:
2 cups Crisco                    2 Tablespoons clear vanilla
½ cup milk                        2 lbs. sifted powdered sugar
½ teaspoon butter flavoring
Beat until like whipping cream.

This will be a sewing workshop for all levels.  4-H'ers may come and go anytime during the workshop.  Hands-on assistance available for all sewing projects, quilting, and project manual activities.  4-H'ers may bring their own sewing machine but it's not necessary.  4-H'ers may bring their garments and material for critique.  4-H sewing members may contact project leader, Beth Minnick, at 317-731-6886 or Amber Latta at 317-850-1200 with questions, for individual assistance with project or for special instructions with stretch fabrics.
     

Shooting Sports

   

All 4-H members must attend 3 of the 5 workshops and pass the test before participating at the shooting range.
Advanced members in each discipline are expected to attend all classes and take the test the first year participating in a new discipline.  If a 4-H member wants to take two disciplines, they have to be able to attend classes for both disciplines or test out of one they have already had.  4-H members may only exhibit a project from one discipline at the fair.

Hunter Education Spring Session:  All meetings are from 6-8 p.m. in the Exhibition Center Dining Room.  April 9, 16, 23, 30; May 7, 14, 2009.

Sheep

This is an organizational meeting which includes officer elections for the Hamilton County Junior Sheep Association and enrollment. Current 4-H sheep members should encourage new members to attend.

These workshops are open to all new and returning 4-H sheep members. Parents are encouraged to attend. 4-H’ers should bring their 4-H sheep project manual to all meeting to complete activities.
