The goal of the Consumer and Family Sciences (CFS) program is to improve the lives of families and individuals throughout Grant County. The Grant County Extension office collaborates with many other agencies, community organizations, and educational groups to address the needs in our community. Teresa Witkoske, the Consumer and Family Sciences Extension Educator, can help by providing education in areas such as:

Extension is making a difference for families - providing people with the knowledge to face the critical issues of today head-on; and then giving them a hands-on, practical way of putting that knowledge to work.

Extension Educational Programs Available

For some, the old term Home Economics is more readily recognized for this area of Purdue Extension. However, in 1975, the name was changed to Consumer and Family Sciences. The program focuses on three primary areas:

  • Foods & Nutrition

  • Family Resource Management, and

  • Human Development

Persons from pre-natal to seniors, in rural or city communities are considered our families to serve. Topical programs and hundreds of resources are available to you or your organization by contacting the Purdue Extension office. Some program examples include:

Most programs are free, some require a small fee. Group or individual assistance is available.
