Spring rainfall is keeping turf areas green and
lush, but it also is doing more harm than good as it is flooding some
areas of homeowners' lawns. "Turf grasses can easily withstand submersion
for a week or more when temperatures are less than 60 degrees; however,
the survival of the turf decreases with increased temperature," said
Zac Reicher, Purdue University Extension turf grass specialist.

recently appeared on turf grass in the Lafayette area. This fungal disease
is favored by cool spring or fall weather and is common in shaded areas.
