What is 4-H?

  • 4-H is the largest youth serving organization in the U.S.A.  It is a volunteer-led organization that reaches youth through a variety of programs in both rural and urban settings.

Who can join 4-H?

  • 4-H is for anyone and everyone in grades 3-12.
  • Mini 4-H is for kids in grades K-2.
  • It is the policy of the Cooperative Extension Service of Purdue University that all persons shall have equal opportunity and access to its programs and facilities without regard to race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, marital status, parental status, sexual orientation or disability. 

 

Why join 4-H?

  • 4-H is FUN!  Kids have fun learning with new and old friends in clubs and classrooms, at meetings, social activities, tours, trips, camps, and fairs.  They learn about themselves and experience new challenges.
  • For older teens, 4-H offers opportunities to develop and test their leadership skills as 4-H volunteers working with youth.
  • For adults, 4-H offers opportunities for training in a variety of areas including youth development, instruction and more!
  • 4-H offers something for everyone, there are over 50 project areas to choose from.
  • 4-H is NOT just for farm kids...it's for all kids!

  • We will match you up with a 4-H club in your township or community and help you to contact the club leader.
  • You must fill out an official Franklin County enrollment form and return it to the Extension Office by March 1. 
  • If you do not live in Franklin County, contact the 4-H staff at your local Cooperative Extension Service county office.  Or Indiana residents call 1-888-EXT-INFO for the telephone number of your county office.
