Consumer and Family Science Extension Educators provide education to people. Extension helps Fountain County communitites analyze, identify, and meet the needs of families. Extension provides training for volunteers and paraprofessionals to assist in areas of critical concern to families. While working in collaboration with agencies, community organizations, and educational groups, extension helps address the needs of families.
- Consumer & Family Science Extension Educators are available to provide research-based knowledge for the people of Indiana. Programs, workshops, publications, and other information are offered to help individuals and families achieve economic stability and physical well-being.
- Consumer & Family Science Educators specilize in three main areas. They are:
- Diet & Health
- Food Safety
- Food Preservation
- Diet & Disease
- The Family Nutrition Program's mission is to increase the ability of individuals and families with limited resources to utilize their food dollars and food stamps appropriately and to provide a safe meal environment. This mission is accomplished by providing free, informal, and easily accessible educational programs in the home and community. These programs focus on developing knowledge and skills related to nutrition and meal planning; food purchasing, preparation, and safety; and food budgeting.
