What Is The Family Nutrition Program (FNP)?
The Family Nutrition Program is the Food Stamp Nutrition Education Program for Indiana. It is funded by Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service in partnership with Indiana Family & Social Services and the United States Department of Agriculture. Program Assistants organize community and home visits with the goal of bringing about nutrition related lifestyle changes.
Our mission is to increase the ability of individuals and families with limited resources to utilize their food dollars and stamps nutritionally and economically and to follow food safety rules. This mission is accomplished by providing free, informal, and easily accessible educational programs in the home and community. These programs focus on developing knowledge and skills related to nutrition and meal planning through food purchases, preparation and safety, as well as learning how to budges and save money on shopping purchases.
