With "headquarters" located at Broadway United Methodist Church, adults and children in the Mapleton-Fall Creek area spent another productive summer gardening. Last year they acquired many vacant lots and have been preparing them for various uses.

This year residents signed contracts that gave them use of a garden area. In exchange, they donated a percentage of the produce they grew. This produce was then sold at an organic farmer's market at 30th and Central. Proceeds from the market were used to purchase garden supplies. The market was very successful. They are hoping for more resident involvement next year.

The kids in the summer Jubilee Program were very busy. They gardened an entire lot themselves throughout the summer. The kids also built a raised heart garden and filled the entire area with flowers. They did this to let everyone know their neighborhood has a heart!
