Miss Essie Rowley, a resident of the Beechwood Garden Apartments for many years, spent the summer gardening with the younger children in the area.
Miss Essie has utilized the help of the CCGP in the past. She "retired" from the big gardening projects a few years ago, but she just couldn't stay away any longer!
With the help of many people, a raised bed was built by her apartment complex. She wanted it close to her as it would be more convenient to work in and also a good deterrent for vandals.
Miss Essie feels it is vital for children to learn how to plant and nurture living things. With the help of the children, a beautiful perennial and annual flower-bed was planted. During the summer, the kids were taught how to water, weed and transplant flowers into their own yards to enjoy. Miss Essie is busy collecting seeds from the many plants and already planning for next year!
