At Home Training

Identification of Common Horticultural Plants

The following website was developed by the Purdue Horticulture and Landscape Architecture Department to aid in the study of plants used in the Indiana State 4-H/FFA Horticulture Judging Contest. However, Purdue Master Gardeners wishing to learn to recognize common horticultural plants (vegetables, fruits & nuts, ornamentals, flowers & indoor plants) may also find this site helpful.

Purdue Master Gardeners can earn one Advanced Training Hour for each of the four sections completed (for a total of 4 educational hours) by following the steps indicated here.

Purdue Plant Propagation CD-ROM

Plant Propagation CD

A CD-ROM from Purdue offers at home training on the topic of plant propagation. There is nothing else quite like it. You will read about the topic and see how it's done. There are 52 short videos and 45 animations and graphics. You can also test yourself with 32 short quizzes. It was created with Master Gardeners in mind but it is also available to the general public.

This CD is approved for 12 hours of advanced Master Gardener training (continuing education) for recertification (4 hours each for the Basics, Asexual Propagation and Sexual Propagation sections).
